What people are saying about Feldenkrais® with Alex:

After class yesterday I slept like a rock, woke up... felt like I was 30 again! No back pain, energetic legs, tons of energy and I am still feeling amazing! So grateful for you, the practice and these results.

To begin with, although it may sound like it, I am NOT a paid spokesperson for Alex. But I am quite happy to recommend her to anyone.

I have been learning how to improve my health through Feldenkrais with Alex for a couple of years. IT WORKS. I cannot state it more simply. In my case, I have a knee injury (a tearing Meniscus) which the doctors all assure me will not heal itself. I was resigned to wearing a knee brace and tolerating pain for the rest of my life. I had seen a brochure in the box of a fitness studio Alex was working with. The method seemed interesting so I scheduled an appointment to learn more and try it out. Alex took the time to explain why the method works and why it is different from the traditional PT I had been doing previously. Over succeeding sessions, Alex took the time to learn about me in order to make the lessons more personalized to the areas I felt needed to improve. In a relatively short time, I had improved to the point that I no longer needed a knee brace to run a 5K course. Prior to Feldenkrais, I was not able to run 30 feet without knee pain. The lessons show you how to use your own brain to recognize patterns which do not serve in terms of movement and teaches you how to move more easily. Alex will take the time to get to know you and work with you to design a program that is unique to you so that you can be healthier and move better without pain. I give Alex 5 stars and would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone.

I heard about this thing called Feldenkrais method and was asking around if anyone knew of a practitioner in the area. Fortunately Alex was recommended to me. I really had no idea what I was getting into I just new I had some chronic pain I needed to ease that massage, PT, yoga, acupuncture, chiropractic and a neurologist didn’t resolve.
I was extremely skeptical our first session but by the end of it immediately signed up for 5 more sessions.
I find it difficult to explain to others what we do in a session, as far as the physical aspect, besides it being very small, mindful movements.
What I can describe is how I feel. When I arrive I don’t realize how heavy and uneven my body is working until we are done when I feel light and balanced
Why did I choose to see Alex? That’s easy, from our first conversation I could feel her genuine concern and care. Combining that with her stellar education, original and continuing, I knew I found someone that would be able to help me like no one had in the past.
In a perfect world I would be able to take care of this all by myself but the reality of this fast paced life is we sometimes need help and Alex is that help for me.

Hard to believe that such small movements might be of service to my body. I was walking around (after our session) yesterday thinking about the lesson. I suddenly realized that I was having no pain at all! In fact, for about six hours after the lesson, I had no back pain. For me, that’s really amazing! ...you’ll see me again... whatever we are doing is working...

Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement classes have been an amazing experience for me. One of the first results I noticed was improved posture. Improved breathing has been another beneficial feature both in awareness and learning ways to make breathing easier. Alex’s enthusiasm is infectious and her knowledge and willingness to explain techniques and answer questions helps me to integrate Awareness Through Movement on a daily basis. This is a lifestyle change rather than a quick fix that I would recommend based on these and other improvements I have experienced with Alex.

I began working with Alex more than two years ago after a bilateral mastectomy for breast cancer. She has helped me to deal with my changed body, off-and-on-again pain issues, and general stress. Via Feldenkrais, she always has new ideas for approaching old subjects in a manner that is gentle and affirming. Alex is a great listener and infinitely patient. Always a joy to see.

I believe that my hunched-in posture is the result of my childhood history of extended trauma. I endured an almost constant sense of fear, both at school, outside my home, even walking the streets in my small town. After the lesson, I felt – physically, in my body – what it feels like to be unafraid. My chest and head felt lightened, I stood straight up in a completely natural way; I was literally able to stand up for myself! This has huge implications. Even when I can’t duplicate the actual lesson, I can now call up the physical memory. When I do, I can feel my posture changing into the natural stance of a centered, unafraid adult.
Feldenkrais has given me a great gift. I’m looking forward to more practice.

I finally ran for the first time (again). 3 miles... piece of cake. Whoop! And crazy I could run 3 miles after not running for almost 7 weeks! Thank you!! It’s all amazing!

As an adjunct therapy through the light touch and system reconnection, our Feldenkrais sessions with Ms Alex allowed for my now 5 year old daughter, Raina, to reconnect her body systems. Recovery from seizures and pharmaceutical administration led to our then 3yo daughter loss of gross and fine motor skills, a running climbing toddler to a neonate unable to clear her chin and roll. Through work with Ms Alex, PT OT SLP and CS she gained skills again there were apparent deficiencies in body system communications that has been present prior. Most effected her was vision and apparent lack of looking anywhere but down. Through neurological optimist test we knew that it was not a structural issue in her eyes but of neurological pathways and Neuro communication. As Raina began again to ambulate she carried her arms in high guard so ecstatic to move independently again she was a danger to herself anywhere that was not fully padded.
After working more with Ms Alex, I have learned more about Feldenkrais, and though I don’t quite understand how it works, I do see a child at 5 now who gallops runs and jumps. Raina can now avoid obstacles or conquer and destroy them if she chooses.
